Yes, I know that this is happening and it is a pretty established
operational procedure for the Hotsync software. I think there is
something in the Hotsync that writes some sort of "signature" to the
Palm and when it does not match what it was last (and was expecting)
then it thinks you have a new Palm and have to setup the partnership all
over again.

This sounds right and pretty resaonable. Is there a way to keep
coldsync from updating/resetting the flags on the Palm with a switch or
other option so that it can do either an "updated" sync or a "complete"
sync without affecting any of the flags? This would enable me to sync
at home without affecting the work computer settings.
