If i understood correctly, there are a few differences between
Palm/Handspring/Sony protocols, but they are mostly (only?) in the
initial session handling.

I think you might get some more help if you can post your coldsync.conf
and the debug messages of coldsync (see the man page on how to set
all the debug levels).
