ugh.. what does your entire .coldsyncrc look like?

Typically, mine also contains the statement,

pda "Clie" {
  username: "Adam McDaniel";
  userid: 1000;
  default;
}

and thats it... but i doubt if that would cause your problem. The only thing
I can guess is to go into the preferences > Connection > Cradle/Cable (or
equivalent) > Details and verify the port speed. Try lowering it.

If that still doesn't work, try dumping some debug output from
coldsync itself. ie:

$ coldsync -d sync:5 -d misc:5

... usually works for me.

It's too bad that you couldn't use pilot-link to test this out as well,
depending on if you want to play with the cvs's you MIGHT be able to
get it to work, but it's probably not a good point to debug a connection
with experimental code :)
