No, I haven't been able to solve this problem yet, sorry.
It's kind of hard when it doesn't happen to me :(
Try switching to a SMP kernel (even on a UP machine), that seems to
solve the problem for most people.
It looks like we need to get better reference counting into the usb core
code to solve this problem, and I'm working on that right now in the 2.5
kernel tree. When completed, I'll see about backporting that to 2.4.
