Can you tell whether and when the databases are being deleted
on the Palm?
ColdSync first makes a list of all of the databases on the
Palm; then, at the end of the sync, it looks through the files in
~/.palm/backup and, if any of the files there don't correspond to
anything on the Palm, those files are moved to the Attic directory.
So there are at least two possibilities: either your DOC files
are being moved to the attic because they didn't exist on the Palm
when you ran ColdSync, or else there's a bug in ColdSync and it isn't
correctly keeping track of the files on the Palm.
In one case, the databases should be missing from the Palm. In
the other, they'll show up both on the Palm and in the attic
directory.

If you run coldsync with "-dsync:2", it'll print a list of the
databases it finds on your Palm. If this problem occurs at
unpredictable times, you may want to run it as
	coldsync -dsync:5 -dmisc:5 -l /some/log/file
and then check that file after you notice the problem.

Another possibility is this: when you install a new database
"Foo", and you already have a database with the same name on the Palm,
you have to delete the old version before installing the new one. This
isn't specific to ColdSync: all Palm tools have to do this.
So if you're installing new databases, it's possible that
there's a problem uploading the new database after the old one has
been deleted.

Finally, I should mention a potential problem with mixing
ColdSync with other tools: if you sync with ColdSync, then sync with
some other tool on the same host, then the next time you run ColdSync,
it'll incorrectly do a fast sync.
It doesn't sound as if this is what's happening in your case,
but I thought I'd mention it.
