	Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't removing the simple
protocol break syncing with a serial cradle? That's what I'm currently
doing, actually. Besides, "use a serial cradle" has traditionally been
one of the fallback solutions for people with hardware that isn't
supported just yet.
