RE: [coldsync-hackers] ColdSync, OpenBSD and USB

Ok, I'm not sure I understand the way things work, or are supposed to
work. Call me clueless if you must.

Andrew said that /dev/usb0 won't exist until I press the HotSync button,
and then the device is inserted. This is what I get before I press the
HotSync button:

$ dmesg | tail
fdc0 at isa0 port 0x3f0/6 irq 6 drq 2
fd0 at fdc0 drive 0: 1.44MB 80 cyl, 2 head, 18 sec
biomask c240 netmask c640 ttymask d6c2
pctr: 686-class user-level performance counters enabled
mtrr: Pentium Pro MTRR support
wd0: no disk label
dkcsum: wd0 matched BIOS disk 80
dkcsum: wd1 matched BIOS disk 81
root on wd1a
rootdev=0x10 rrootdev=0x310 rawdev=0x312
$ ls -C /dev/ugen*
/dev/ugen0.00   /dev/ugen0.07   /dev/ugen0.14   /dev/ugen1.05
/dev/ugen1.12
/dev/ugen0.01   /dev/ugen0.08   /dev/ugen0.15   /dev/ugen1.06
/dev/ugen1.13
/dev/ugen0.02   /dev/ugen0.09   /dev/ugen1.00   /dev/ugen1.07
/dev/ugen1.14
/dev/ugen0.03   /dev/ugen0.10   /dev/ugen1.01   /dev/ugen1.08
/dev/ugen1.15
/dev/ugen0.04   /dev/ugen0.11   /dev/ugen1.02   /dev/ugen1.09
/dev/ugen0.05   /dev/ugen0.12   /dev/ugen1.03   /dev/ugen1.10
/dev/ugen0.06   /dev/ugen0.13   /dev/ugen1.04   /dev/ugen1.11

Now this is what I get after I press the HotSync button:

$ dmesg | tail
biomask c240 netmask c640 ttymask d6c2
pctr: 686-class user-level performance counters enabled
mtrr: Pentium Pro MTRR support

dkcsum: wd0 matched BIOS disk 80
dkcsum: wd1 matched BIOS disk 81
root on wd1a
rootdev=0x10 rrootdev=0x310 rawdev=0x312
ugen0 at uhub0 port 1
ugen0: Palm, Inc. Palm Handheld, rev 1.00/1.00, addr 2
$ ls -C /dev/ugen*
/dev/ugen0.00   /dev/ugen0.07   /dev/ugen0.14   /dev/ugen1.05
/dev/ugen1.12
/dev/ugen0.01   /dev/ugen0.08   /dev/ugen0.15   /dev/ugen1.06
/dev/ugen1.13
/dev/ugen0.02   /dev/ugen0.09   /dev/ugen1.00   /dev/ugen1.07
/dev/ugen1.14
/dev/ugen0.03   /dev/ugen0.10   /dev/ugen1.01   /dev/ugen1.08
/dev/ugen1.15
/dev/ugen0.04   /dev/ugen0.11   /dev/ugen1.02   /dev/ugen1.09
/dev/ugen0.05   /dev/ugen0.12   /dev/ugen1.03   /dev/ugen1.10
/dev/ugen0.06   /dev/ugen0.13   /dev/ugen1.04   /dev/ugen1.11

I can see the device being inserted as /dev/ugen0, but that device
doesn't exist?

This is a Clie PEG-T615cC on an OpenBSD 3.1 GENERIC kernel, following
-stable (I just updated it yesterday, which was Tuesday).
