I tried out your modifications to 2.3.1, and coldsync ended up freezing
on me halfway through the sync. On the T415 it displayed the hotsync
standard error message, but on coldsync it was frozen at 'syncing
programs' (about 1/3 of files ended up in a fresh ~/.palm/backup dir)

If you let me know what method is best for getting any debug output you
need, I can send that up.
