Actually it does - but they are unused as of now. DatebookDB.pdb does
have a standard AppInfo record, and all records belong to category 0
which has the default name "Unfiled" and ID 0 as well.

Exactly.

No, this database would be ignored - not by the sync process, but by the
Datebook application on the Palm. This has the name "DatebookDB.pdb"
hardcoded.
