Hi all. New to the list, please point me to a FAQ if there is one. :-)
I have a shiny new PEG-T415 Clie (PalmOS 4.1) which I can't, for the life of
me, get to sync with FreeBSD 4.5-STABLE (or 4.4-RELEASE) over USB.
I'm using coldsync 2.2.5, have checked and rechecked my coldsyncrc, tried
every combination of port, protocol, speed, and even tried making minor
modifications to usbd. With all debug facilities turned on, coldsync hangs
after waiting for the 'wakeup packet'. The USB ports on this machine work
for everything else I've tried (mouse, Visor Dlx, Visor Plat, printer, etc.).
In short, I'm pretty sure this is a protocol issue.
Has anyone gotten a PalmOS 4.1 handheld to sync with coldsync at all? How
about with FreeBSD? How about Clie owners (particularly owners of the T
series)?
[As a complete and utter side note, has anyone tried mounting the Clie as a
USB mass storage device when MSExport is enabled? I've watched its attach
sequence and I have a feeling it's emulating a reasonably standard
mass-storage device.]
I read some posts in the archives that basically said "USB/PalmOS4/FreeBSD is
broken and there's no ETA on a patch." Has there been any progress on this?
Would anyone like me to help, or like to help me? I'm a FreeBSD hacker and
long-time systems programmer, and I'd be happy to work on the code to get
this thing syncing.
I'm preparing to reboot into Windows to take USB protocol dumps of the
handshake sequence, but I had to fire off this message first. (No e-mail in
Windows.)
Thanks!
