[coldsync-hackers] coldsync frontends?
If I understand the coldsync architecture correctly, it should be
possible to edit Palm databases in ~/.palm/backup directly, and
coldsyncing them later will do the right thing. But are there any
applications that do this type of thing for the standard Palm
applications (Datebook, Phonebook, ToDo list, MemoPad, NotePad)?
Google search on something like "coldsync frontends" tends to find pages
providing links to all kinds of software for Palm, including "Coldsync"
and "FooX - a frontend for pilot-link".
I haven't studied pilot-link architecture yet, so I don't know what
things like J-Pilot, KPilot, gnome-pilot et al. require from it, and why
can't they be used just for editing a couple of .pdb files on disk
without any knowledge of what kind of application will sync them later
(coldsync, pilot-link, or maybe the official Palm software after
rebooting into Windows).
Are there at least conduits or maybe just plain converters for these
standard applications databases that could export all the data to plain
text/XML and import everything again? So I was unable to find anything
on coldsync home page and some quick Google searches.
