I did in fact RTFS ala palm.c, and saw the abstraction, which seems like a good
idea (and, as I recall, was possibly due to my incessant moaning about slow
startup time and wasteful info-mongering). The question becomes, is this
abstraction interfering with the serial transmission somehow, or is it yet
another plume of colored smoke meant to divert us from the real action? Either
time will tell, or we'll all get fed up and get a paper notepad and
mother-of-pearl inlaid pen.
