[GNU-COBOL] Status of GNU COBOL project

Dear COBOL developer,
Just a quick note to ask at what stage the GNU COBOL compiler is at?

A few years ago we ported a WANG-COBOL suite of software to a DEC - ALPHA,
and soon (by the middle of 1999) we will have to port the same suit to Unix,
running Solaris 2.6.  Will we be able to use GNU-COBOL?
