Interesting. mbox-inbox works fine for me.
It sounds like everything is working correctly except for the part about
writing to MailDB.pdb. I can think of a couple reasons that might fail:
~/.palm/backup/MailDB.pdb is writable, right? I've been bitten by this at
least once, although you should see an error in this case.
Another possibility... you wouldn't happen to have multiple versions of
ColdSync.pm floating around your perl library path, would you? i.e.
find /usr/lib/perl5 -name 'ColdSync.pm'

Your configurations are just fine. If there's no actual errors showing in
the logs it's probably either a bug or a system config problem.
