the newly created record

Is this error just from a record creation or could it be from reading an existing
pdb record (for instance, one that was entered by hand into the pda).  That might
help me narrow my search for a problem

I don't get the error with my other conduits (using the other Palm perl modules)
that use similar program logic and coding
