RE: [coldsync-hackers] getting coldsync installed

On my Redhat 7.2 machine, it put coldsync in the /usr/local/bin directory

Type 'locate coldsync' to get a list of all files whose path name include
the word coldsync

Did you read the docs and make a coldsync.conf and a palms file? (I like to
set up a global coldsync.conf file for getting things running and then worry
about setting up individual coldsyncrc files for individual users later)

Do you have an idea what serial port your palm pilot is connected to? Is it
USB?

I haven't used USB but for serial your add a link to the serial dev with a
command like 'ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/pilot'

Try running the command 'coldsync' and see what you get

Subject: [coldsync-hackers] getting coldsync installed

I'm having some trouble getting coldsync working on my machine. It
compiles ok(no errors), but when I run make install, I don't see where it
put an executable file, perl script or otherwise. Also, How do I set up
my /dev/pilot ? I tried running MAKEDEV pilot in /dev, but it gave me an
error saying: MAKEDEV: don't know how to make device: 'pilot'. I am
currently running Slackware 8.0, Athlon 800. My PDA is a Sony Clie(I
forget the model number, it's too late in the evening). Is there anyone
out there that can help me? Thanks!
