It is very much ironic.
The real question is this... if Microsoft wasn't there... Palm would have a
monopoly... how would they behave with respect to competing OSes?
Right now, all I can see is that they make life difficult for Linux users and
if not for some incredibly talented hackers working for free, we would be out
of luck.
Honestly, it doesn't fare very well. I think Palm would do its best to harm
all non-PalmOS OSes if it could afford it. That's sad, but it looks like the
best guess right now...
That's the same story all over the place. A lot of the Microsoft rivals are
just jealous that they can' t pull the same tricks. I don't mind them, but I
don't think they desserve our sympathy for all their challenges...
