[coldsync-hackers] FYI: Syncing m505 with FreeBSD 5-CURRENT over IrDa

Hi,

I just managed to sync my m505 via IrDa using birda-0.8 from the
NetBSD-Ports-Collection (you have to put an #include <sys/types.h>
into src/obexformat.h) with coldsync-2.3.0-20011210.tar.gz on my
Acer TravelMate 521 TEV Notebook.

After beeing frustrated trying to sync over USB for weeks, this
lights up my day ;)

What you have to do:

On your Palm: Start Hotsync, choose "via IrDa". Start the
HotSync-Process *now*.

Start ircomm, I invoked it this way:
./ircomm -d /dev/cuaa1 -Y (ircomm gives you the name of the pty you have to
connect to)

Start coldsync, I have the following in my .coldsyncrc:

listen serial {
	device: /dev/ttyp3;	# this is what ircomm gave to me
	speed: 115200;	# this is the speed I configured my irda on the palm
}
