Yes, that has been the problem. I thought the built-in config
was:
conduit sync {
type: */*;
path: [generic];
}
to make sure, the user always has a backup, but the current
implementation makes more sense, of course.

The current one looks already very good. It works for me so far.
For the cases, it will not work I have backups of my
~/.palm/backup direcory ;-)
Your approach tries to do it perfectly for palm AND desktop. A
more simple way might be to define, "who is right" in cases of
doubts.
In my case, this would be the Palm, because this is the primary
organizing entity. For other people it might be the desktop.
