Good luck, indeed.  Way back when I did the original FreeBSD USB code,
my primary protocol documentation was traces from a USB protocol analyzer.
At the same time, someone was doing the Linux driver and the only
documentation we got we an email message which explained briefly what
the one proprietary command was up to.  But nothing complete, and 
certainly nothing that would explain some new behavior that folks
are seeing on the newer Palm devices.

I was rather disappointed, as signing up for the Handspring developer
problem only seemed to give me the opportunity to enjoy regular
messages trying to sell me stuff, and no documentation or support
for things just like this USB issue.
