[coldsync-hackers] kernel message when uploading
Palm Device: Visor Platinum
PalmOS: 3.5
Cradle connection: USB
Machine OS/kernel: RH Linux 6.1/2.2.18
Coldsync version: coldsync-1.5.5-20001209
I noticed that upgrading to Coldsync 1.5.5 improved reliability of syncing
enormously in the above setup - and uploading packages worked fine
although took a while and had sometimes many:
ACK Timeout. Attempting to resend
messages. Normal?
I then try to upload proxiweb 3.5 (www.proxinet.com) and get to the
browser.prc file (about 80k) I get the usual "ACK Timeout. Attempting to
resend" messages - but also for the first time:
##### Got an unexpected data packet. Sending an ACK to shut it up.
...which when I turn on all debugging to level 5 looks like:
slp_write(x, x, 4)
slp_write(x, x, 1028)
Got a header: 3->3, type 2, size 8, xid 0x4c, sum 0xf6
Got CRC
##### Got an unexpected data packet. Sending an ACK to shut it up.
sending ACK: type 2, flags 0xc0, size 0x04, xid 0x4c
I really don't know whether this is terminal - but it seems to have the
effect of making the download never complete.
Also twice now, I've had the kernel following message when trying to
upload the same file:
kernel: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 02 00 00 00 20 00 11 a4 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 02 00 00 00 20 00 11 a5 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 0 0 00 00 00 40 00 02 00 00 00 20 00 11 a6 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
00 00 00 40 00 02 00 00 00 20 00 11 a7 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
40 00 02 00 00 00 20 00 11 a8 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 02
00 00 00 20 00 11 a9 0 0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 02 00 00
00 20 00 11 aa 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 02 00 00 00 20 00
11 ab 00 00 00 00 00 00
I looked at the NEWS file for coldsync-1.6.6-20010114 - but can't see any
bugs in this category - so is it worth upgrading?
Any hints ideas - about what to do? All other uploads (so far) seem
alright - I'd be surprised if it really is a data-dependent error.
Many thanks for any light anyone can shed.
